The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into an allegation that a Customs officer at the Kotoka International Airport collected GH¢600 from a traveller without issuing a receipt.
The allegation was made by TikToker Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty in a video circulating on social media.
According to the allegation, the Customs officer collected the money from her while she was at the airport but did not provide a receipt for the payment.
The GRA, in a public notice, said it had taken note of the video and had commenced investigations into the matter.
The Authority said the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment and the conduct of the officer involved.
It assured the public that it would publish an update on its findings when the investigation is completed.
The GRA reiterated its commitment to integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate.
The allegation comes at a time when the conduct of public officials involved in revenue collection remains a matter of public interest, particularly where payments are allegedly made without official receipts.
