World Cup 2026: Colombiaâ??s Round of 32 clash against Ghana could go either way â?? Nestor Lorenzo
Colombia head coach Nestor Lorenzo is going into their Round of 32 clash against Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the mindset that it is anybody’s game to win.
The South American side will lock horns with the Black Stars on Saturday, July 4, hoping for a win to advance to the Round of 16 stage.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Nestor Lorenzo indicated that his side is unsure of Ghana’s approach for the contest, stressing that Colombia will need to be at their best on the matchday to secure victory.
“I don’t know if Ghana will present a low block. Maybe they want to surprise us or come out and attack with everything,” Lorenzo said in his pre-match interview.
He further argued that the upcoming match is there for the taking by any side.
“The feeling is that the competition is incredibly âeven and that it is there for anyone to win. Besides playing âwell, you need that little bit of effectiveness and luck,” the Colombia coach added.
Colombia qualified for the Round of 32 stage of the World Cup after finishing top of Group K, where they beat Uzbekistan 3-1 and DR Congo 1-0 before drawing â0-0 with Portugal.
Ghana, on the other hand, finished third in Group L, having defeated Panama 1-0, drawn goalless with England, and lost 2-1 to Croatia.
Both teams are determined to to fight for a win on Saturday to earn the ticket to compete in the Round of 16.
