The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has assured staff of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd. (GDCL) that the government will not lay off employees following the recent flooding incident that affected the company.
The Minister gave the assurance when he met with the Board, Management and staff of GDCL to discuss the impact of the incident and outline plans for the company’s recovery and future growth.
Addressing employees, Samuel George said their jobs remained secure, stressing that the government was committed to protecting their livelihoods.
“We are not laying off any staff of GDCL, whether temporarily or permanently, because of the flood. Every one of you is assured of the continuity of your jobs,” he said.
The Minister, however, urged staff to see the situation as an opportunity to rebuild and transform the company into a more efficient and financially sustainable institution.
He described the period ahead as a “reset of the reset”, calling on employees to take active roles in repositioning GDCL.

“Every staff will have to play their role because it’s not going to be business as usual,” he added.
Samuel George further reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the recovery process while improving governance, operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of the company.
He said GDCL had the resources and infrastructure required to become a profitable enterprise and charged management and staff to maximise its assets.
“With the assets you hold, there is no excuse for GDCL not to be profitable. It will not fail, not under my watch,” the Minister stated.

The engagement formed part of efforts by the Ministry to provide direction and reassurance following the flooding incident while setting out a roadmap to strengthen the operations of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd.
