Parliament opens national book of condolence for helicopter crash victims

The foyer of Parliament House has become a focal point of national grief as Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin leads the legislature in opening a Book of Condolence for the eight Ghanaians killed in the recent helicopter crash.

Among the victims were two Ministers of State, along with technocrats and service personnel whose work left what Parliament called “an indelible impact” on the nation.

The book of condolence is open to state officials, Members of Parliament, and the general public from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., offering a space to pay tribute and send messages of sympathy to grieving families.

In a statement signed by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, Parliament urged Ghanaians to stand in solidarity with the bereaved, describing the tragedy as a moment for national unity. “We mourn this profound loss and pray for comfort, strength, and peace for the affected families,” the statement said.

The move comes as the nation continues to grapple with the shock of the accident, with Parliament positioning itself as both host and participant in the collective mourning.
