The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga has presented insurance cheques totalling Thirty-Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven Naira, Eighty-Seven Kobo (N37,889,857.87) to 48 families of police officers who died in the line of duty
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in recognition of the ultimate sacrifice made by their loved ones in the service of the nation, Olugbenga said the presentation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to the welfare of police personnel and their families
While saying that personnel welfare remains a key priority of his administration, he pointed out, that the initiative forms part of the broader welfare framework designed to ensure that serving, retired and deceased officers, as well as their families, receive the necessary support and protection from the Nigeria Police Force.
Ayanlade Oluseyi Olayinka, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Oyo State Police Command in a statement said while conveying the goodwill and commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, the CP noted that the intervention goes beyond the financial value of the cheques, particularly for families who have lost their loved ones in the line of duty.
Explaining that although no financial compensation can replace the lives lost, the Commissioner of Police said the gesture is intended to provide a measure of financial respite and cushion the impact of the loss on the affected families.
Against this backdrop, the Commissioner encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious and productive use of the funds, particularly in ways that will enhance the welfare, education and future aspirations of their families.

He stressed that the sacrifices made by their loved ones will remain an enduring part of the history and proud tradition of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner further reassured the beneficiaries that the loss of their loved ones does not sever their relationship with the Force, urging them to continue to see themselves as valued members of the larger Nigeria Police family. He reaffirmed that, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, the welfare of personnel and their families will continue to receive sustained attention.
The Oyo State Police Command therefore reiterates its commitment to implementing welfare initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police and ensuring that the sacrifices of officers who paid the ultimate price in the service of the nation are not forgotten, while supporting their families with dignity, compassion and a sense of belonging.
