The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, after finding him guilty of violating Asante customs and traditions.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio was removed from the stool alongside nearly all his kingmakers, who were also found to have breached their oath of office. However, the Asantehene spared the Kontihene and reinstated the destooled Akyeame and other linguists of the traditional council.
The action followed concerns over conduct deemed inconsistent with Asante traditions and the authority of the traditional hierarchy. Otumfuo indicated that repeated warnings issued to the chief had not been heeded, leading to the decision to end his reign.

According to reports, one of the issues considered by the Asanteman Traditional Council was the creation of chieftaincy positions without the required authority, which the Asantehene said amounted to a disregard for established customs.
Following the ruling, the remaining kingmakers were directed to support the Queen of Kenyase No. 2 in administering the affairs of the traditional area until further arrangements are made.
