The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned what it describes as widespread incidents of bribery and vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Friday, February 7, 2026, the NDC said the attention of its national executives had been drawn to alleged acts of inducement perpetrated by some aspirants during the conduct of the primaries in the constituency.
The party said it views the alleged conduct as unacceptable and a direct violation of its core values and principles.
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms as they represent an affront to the values and principles of the party and the reset agenda the party is championing,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the NDC has taken immediate steps to address the matter by instituting a full-scale investigation into the alleged incidents.
“The party is immediately instituting a full-scale investigation into this matter and will take swift action against any candidate found culpable,” it added.
The party further warned that stricter sanctions would be applied in future instances of similar misconduct, including the possible cancellation of elections.
“The party also wishes to make it clear that in the future, more drastic sanctions would be taken including possibly cancelling elections, when such incidents come to the attention of the party,” the statement said.
The statement was signed by the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
