The Bono-East Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission has swooped on suspected drug enclaves in Donkor-Nkwanta, arresting six individuals in a targeted crackdown aimed at flushing out narcotics activity.
The operation, code-named Operation Clean Street, was carried out on Friday, March 27, in the Nkoranza South District as part of intensified efforts to clamp down on drug peddling and abuse, particularly among the youth.
According to the Commission, the exercise zeroed in on identified hotspots—locally described as ghettos—long suspected to be hubs for illicit drug trade and consumption.
The six suspects picked up during the raid have been named as Ismael Tahiru, Edward Adai, Opoku Kwame, Benjamin Atinga, Isaac Antwi and Emmanuel Brobbey, all aged between 20 and 23.
A search conducted during the operation led to the seizure of quantities of substances believed to be cannabis, as well as suspected synthetic drugs.
Officers also retrieved a range of items, including multiple rolls and parcels of cannabis, packs of rolling papers and other materials linked to drug use and distribution. Additional items such as a motorcycle, knives, scissors and a hammer were also impounded.

The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations, while the confiscated substances have been secured for laboratory examination and evidential purposes.
The Bono-East Command of NACOC has reiterated its resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations to dismantle drug networks and restore safety in vulnerable communities across the region.
