Meek Mill Brings Star-Powered Inspiration Home with Dream Chasers Summit at Temple University
North Philadelphia native and rap superstar Meek Mill returned to the city with a powerful mission: to motivate our city’s youth and prove that greatness is achievable, no matter where you start.
The Liacouras Center at Temple University was packed with energy as more than 1,000 high school and college students gathered for the 2026 Dream Chasers Sports and Entertainment Summit. The daylong event combined major star power with a deep community purpose, bringing together prominent leaders from music, sports, entertainment, business, and culture to connect with the next generation.
“Philly does need something that’s motivational,” Meek Mill said in an exclusive interview with Action News anchor Sharrie Williams. “I do shows all the time, but I want to bring something that adds benefit to the community. I wanted to bring the educational side, so maybe some kids can leave here with some motivation.”

For Meek, who grew up in North Philadelphia, the summit is also a deeply personal effort to set a positive example. “I try to be a role model to my two sons,” Mill shared. “I try to make sure I perform correctly in public and to the young men and women who are watching me. It feels great to know people acknowledge me.”
The summit’s impactful programming was built around three central pillars: Dreams and Nightmares (Culture, Music, and Ownership), Championships (Sports, Leadership, and Legacy), and Wins and Losses (Community, Career, and Second Chances). Students had the unique opportunity to engage directly with an impressive lineup of speakers, including cultural commentator Wallo267, artist and tech investor Chamillionaire, and Larry Miller, a 1982 Temple graduate and current chair of the Advisory Board for Nike’s Jordan Brand.
The free event drew massive crowds of local students who left the arena feeling empowered and seen.
“It’s amazing because the people made it so far and didn’t turn their backs on where they came from, and still come back and give a lot to Philly,” said Elijah Pietersen, a 12th grader at Randolph High School.
Diamond Rosa, a 12th grader at Abraham Lincoln High School, shared how much the representation meant to her. “It gives me hope because I’m also from North Philly,” Rosa said. “It’s really amazing to see people from where I’m from. Philly sometimes gets a bad reputation, but you see that these people excelled and became something great.”
By partnering with Meek Mill, Temple University helped create an unforgettable day of culture, education, and career exploration, leaving a lasting legacy of hope right in the heart of North Philadelphia.
