Mahama to co-chair global health summit with Macron

President John Dramani Mahama is set to co-chair the high-level segment of the global One Health Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, placing Ghana at the forefront of international efforts to strengthen health systems and respond to emerging global threats.

The summit is expected to bring together world leaders, health ministers and global experts to advance coordinated action on public health, sustainable food systems and disease prevention, amid rising concerns over cross-border health risks.

Mahama, founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, will deliver two keynote addresses during the event.

His first address will be delivered at a session on global health architecture, co-chaired by Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organisation. The session will focus on reforms to global health systems and is expected to lead to the endorsement of a political declaration aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

Mahama’s second keynote will open the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s strategy for global health security.

The address will highlight the country’s approach to tackling emerging health threats through collaborative, cross-sector solutions.
