President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville, Gabon, to participate in the inaugural Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development, a high-level gathering of heads of state, government officials, global investors and technology experts.
The forum, held under the patronage of Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, is themed “Political Stability, Business Climate, and Artificial Intelligence: Catalysts for Growth.”
It is expected to serve as a platform for advancing dialogue on how governance, investment-friendly policies and emerging technologies can drive sustainable development across Africa.
The statement was issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, on Sunday, 3 May 2026.

The event is aimed at positioning Gabon as a regional hub for innovation and a prime destination for international investment.
It also marks the official inauguration of the Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, a newly constructed facility designed to host major global engagements and foster international dialogue.

The forum will conclude with the adoption of the “Libreville Declaration,” a strategic document expected to outline commitments by political leaders to strengthen governance systems, enhance transparency and accelerate digital integration on the continent.
President Mahama is attending the summit as part of his continued push to deepen partnerships between governments and the private sector. He has consistently advocated policies that bridge public-sector leadership with private investment to deliver inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The participation of the Ghanaian leader underscores the country’s interest in leveraging innovation and technology-driven solutions to address development challenges while strengthening its position within the global investment landscape.
