The chiefs and people of the Klikor Traditional Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region have launched a massive clean-up campaign at a grand ceremony at Klikor, the traditional capital. The event was used to drum home the need for the citizenry not only to keep Klikor and its environs clean but also live a healthy life in order to protect themselves from all manner of illnesses.

The launch of the ‘Keep Klikor Clean’ campaign was organized by the chiefs and elders of the Klikor Traditional Area led by the newly installed Fiaga of Klikor in collaboration with some well-meaning individuals and youth of the area.

A property maintenance and professional cleaning service link based in Accra, El-Sayus Company Limited provided technical and logistics support for the exercise.

The Company, which has thrived in the health and cleaning sectors of the country for the past thirty (30) years, supported the initiative with a number of items including tee-shirts and caps, waste bins, brooms, detergents and cutlasses in addition to deploying some of its staff members to support the community members to undertake the exercise.

The launch of the ‘Keep Klikor Clean’ campaign was followed by a massive clean-up exercise throughout the Klikor Township, intended to give a facelift to the community ahead of the performance of the final funeral rites of the late Fiaga of Klikor, Torgbui Addo VIII.

According to the residents and their leaders, the initiative would be sustained and replicated periodically not only to ensure community health, safety and beautification but above all project the image of Klikor to the rest of its neighbourhood.

The exercise was graced by a large number of the residents and citizens of Klikor led by their chiefs and queen mothers with support from the youth of the area.

Speaking at the event, Fiaga of the Klikor Traditional Area, Torgbuiga Dr. Addo IX noted that he was more than excited and overwhelmed not only about the massive turn-out of his subjects but also the support from all the stakeholders including the chiefs and queen mothers of the area.

According to Torgbuiga Addo IX, some of these student tourists come to Klikor to conduct research on a number of issues whiles other visitors come to visit the Klikor Shrine to learn and appreciate the issues of the rich tradition and culture of the people of the area.

The Fiaga urged the people to take care of their health, adding that as much as possible, they should check their diets and avoid foods that are chemicalized.

Some of the other traditional leaders namely, Torgbui Korkudjah Tamekloe II, Dufia of Klikor Kpordoave, Torgbui Atsu Nteme II, Dufia of Adrume-Klikor as well as Mama Hodzige II, Queen Mother of Klikor Ablorgame, also shared their thoughts on the programme, calling for more support towards such an initiative.
