Police in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region have arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly attacking a family member with scissors, leaving her critically injured.
The suspect, William Gyamfi, also known as Kwasi Manso, reportedly stabbed Akua Agyeiwaa, believed to be in her early 50s, in both eyes during a domestic dispute at Sefwi Abrokofe.
Following the attack, the victim was rushed to Juaboso Government Hospital, where she received emergency medical care.
Police say they responded swiftly after receiving a report of the incident, deploying officers to the community where Gyamfi was apprehended. Residents reportedly assaulted the suspect before he was taken into custody.
At the time of his arrest, Gyamfi sustained injuries, including a swollen left eye, a forehead cut, and bleeding on his left leg. He was treated at the hospital and later discharged.
Police confirmed that Gyamfi remains in custody and is cooperating with ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, some community members claim the suspect has a history of violent behaviour, citing a previous cutlass attack on a relative. Residents are calling on authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate prosecution to prevent further incidents.
