The Office of the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has officially disassociated himself from circulating social media posters suggesting he intends to contest for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a press statement issued on Thursday, 5 February 2026, the Office said it had been “drawn to the circulation of promotional posters on social media purporting that he intends to contest for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
The statement emphasised that the posters were not authorised by Haruna Iddrisu or his team, warning the public to treat them with caution.
“These posters did not originate from Hon. Haruna Iddrisu or his office,” the statement added. “The public is therefore urged to disregard the posters and treat them with the utmost contempt they deserve.”
The Office reaffirmed that the education minister remains fully committed to his current responsibilities in government and Parliament. “Hon. Haruna Iddrisu remains fully focused on his responsibilities as Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South,” the statement read.
It also revealed that the Minister is currently abroad on official duty in Lusaka, Zambia, where he is accompanying President John Dramani Mahama and working alongside him to advance the Reset Ghana agenda, with a particular focus on the education sector.
The statement urged the public not to be misled by the unauthorised posters, describing them as a distraction from the Minister’s ongoing work.
“The Office thanks the public for their continued support and cooperation,” it concluded, signed by the Office of the Minister for Education.
This clarification comes amid growing speculation on social media about potential NDC flagbearer aspirants, highlighting the intense political intrigue as the party prepares for its upcoming internal elections.
Haruna Iddrisu’s Office has called on Ghanaians to ignore the posters and focus on verified information from official sources, underscoring the Minister’s commitment to transparency and responsible governance.
