The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has urged students of Aburi Girls Senior High School to acquire digital skills and embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) as Ghana positions its tourism sector for a technology-driven future.
Speaking at a mentorship outreach organised by the GTA Ladies Club at Aburi Girls Senior High School on Thursday, September 24, 2026, under the theme “Tourism Future Leaders Engagement,” the CEO said technology was creating new opportunities for young people to contribute to tourism through innovation and entrepreneurship.
She said tourism was no longer limited to traditional careers in hospitality and travel, noting that professionals in medicine, law, accounting, engineering, journalism, environmental science and technology could all contribute to the sector.
“As technology transforms tourism, there will be increasing opportunities for those who can combine their professional expertise with Artificial Intelligence, digital innovation and entrepreneurship,” she said.
The CEO said tourism went beyond travel to include Ghana’s culture, heritage, history, creativity, food, fashion, music, hospitality and its people.
She said initiatives such as the Black Star Experience provided opportunities to showcase Ghana to the world while empowering young people to become creators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and ambassadors of the country.
She also urged the students to use technology responsibly to promote Ghana, tell its stories, solve problems and create new tourism opportunities.
Her comments come ahead of Ghana’s celebration of World Tourism Day on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Koforidua, under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to redesign tourism.”

The CEO encouraged the students to develop their education and practical skills alongside communication, leadership, financial literacy, digital competence and integrity.
She urged them to focus not only on securing jobs but also on identifying problems they could solve and opportunities they could create.
“Do not ask only, ‘What job can I get?’ Ask instead, ‘What problem can I solve? What can I create? What opportunity can I develop?’” she said.
The CEO also stressed the importance of mentorship, encouraging the students to learn from experienced professionals, ask questions, seek guidance and build meaningful relationships.
She commended the GTA Ladies Club for creating a platform to inspire and mentor young women and urged the students to support other young women when they succeed.
She said the future of Ghana’s tourism sector required young people who were innovative, creative, digitally skilled, ethical, confident and purpose-driven.

“Embrace tourism. Embrace your culture. Embrace technology. Use AI responsibly. Create opportunities. Serve with humility. Lead with integrity. And never stop learning,” she told the students.
