Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has received the Africa Visionary Leadership Award at the 7th Africa Brain Bank Annual Summit and Awards in Accra.
The award recognises her leadership and contribution to Ghana’s economic, tourism, industrial and community development.
Mrs Houadjeto was honoured during the summit’s closing activities held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra, where business leaders, investors, government officials and professionals from the healthcare, tourism, pharmaceutical, construction, finance, technology, logistics, real estate and infrastructure sectors gathered.
The summit, which ran from September 3 to 8, also featured a charity ball and a groundbreaking ceremony for a proposed Medical City.
The events sought to engage members of the African diaspora and encourage them to contribute expertise, investment, professional networks and philanthropic support to development initiatives on the continent while reconnecting with Ghana’s cultural and historical heritage.
The Africa Visionary Leadership Award was presented to Mrs Houadjeto for what organisers described as her visionary leadership, exemplary public service and transformative contribution to national development.
Reacting to the recognition, the GTA CEO expressed appreciation to the organisers but dedicated the honour to the people she works with at the Authority.
“I am appreciative for the honour done me by the Organisers but this award is dedicated to the supportive, dedicated and hardworking Management and Staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority,” Mrs Houadjeto said.
Africa’s Brain Bank describes itself as a repository of African intellect, bringing together expertise, experience, talent and professional knowledge to support the continent’s development.

The organisation seeks to create platforms for African professionals and leaders to exchange ideas, policy insights, resources and expertise through events and forums across the world.
