The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) have asked the Ministry of Transport to review public transport fares.
The two transport groups made the request in a joint statement, citing the Administrative Instrument that governs the determination and review of public transport fares.
According to the groups, the process allows for consultations on the various factors that affect the operation of commercial road transport services.
They said engagements with the Ministry of Transport on the request would begin soon.
The GPRTU and GRTCC have urged drivers, station masters, transport owners and commuters to remain calm while the consultations are ongoing.
They said the outcome of the discussions would be announced to the public after the process is completed.
