Gold Stars CEO charged by GFA over comments on Hearts defeat

Bibiani Gold Stars Chief Executive Officer, Kwasi Adu, has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over comments he allegedly made about match officials following the club’s defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak.

The charge was issued under Article 34(6)(d) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations, 2025, with the GFA accusing Adu of conduct capable of bringing the league into disrepute.

The alleged breach stems from Adu’s post-match commentary after Gold Stars’ encounter with Hearts in the second matchday of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The GFA has directed the Gold Stars executive to respond to the charge by Wednesday, September 16, 2026, after which the matter could proceed through the association’s disciplinary process.

Gold Stars lost the match 2-1 at home despite taking an early advantage through Kwame Opoku.

Hearts of Oak overturned the deficit through Yaw Baafi and Kwaku Boateng Henry to claim the three points.

Gold Stars were handed a late opportunity to rescue a point when they were awarded a penalty, but Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare saved the spot-kick to preserve the visitors’ victory.

The GFA’s latest regulatory action places Adu under formal scrutiny over his remarks about the officiating, with his response expected to determine the next stage of the case.

The charge forms part of the GFA’s ongoing regulatory actions for the 2026/27 season.
