Nearly 900 female students of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) have been left without accommodation after a devastating fire swept through the school’s girls’ dormitory on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze completely destroyed the dormitory block, which accommodates students from four houses — Aggrey, Arthur, Ali, and Gbewaa — reducing the structure and its contents to ashes.
At the time of the incident, most of the students were in class. Upon noticing the fire, many rushed back to the dormitory in a desperate attempt to salvage personal belongings, but the intensity of the flames made recovery efforts difficult.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were deployed to the scene and battled the inferno for several hours before eventually bringing it under control.
Although no casualties were recorded, the destruction was extensive. Beds, mattresses, books, school uniforms, trunks, and other essential items were lost in the fire, leaving many students traumatised and uncertain about their immediate living arrangements.
