The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has selected former lawmaker, Tunde Lekan Olatunji, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Naija News reports that the development was confirmed on Monday following the publication of the names of political parties and their governorship and deputy governorship candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The commission’s Osun State office released the list as part of preparations for the election, with details displayed across its local government offices in the state.
The publication formally confirmed Oyebamiji as the APC governorship flag bearer and Olatunji as his running mate.
Tunde Olatunji
Olatunji, an indigene of Edunabon town, previously represented Ife North State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023.
During his tenure, he served as Chief Whip, where he coordinated legislative activities and ensured party discipline within the Assembly.
According to Daily Post, party sources said his selection followed wide consultations with stakeholders across the state, as the APC moves to consolidate support ahead of the 2026 poll.
Meanwhile, former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians and members of the Obidient Movement to prepare to protect their votes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi said the movement must evolve beyond enthusiasm into a more organised and strategic political force capable of securing victory.
Naija News reports that the former Anambra State governor made the call in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, while mobilising support for the ADC.
His remarks were contained in a statement signed by the movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko.
According to Obi, the next election cycle must be driven by planning, organisation and unity among supporters.
“The time has come to move from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory,” he said.
Obi also warned that the irregularities and controversies that trailed the 2023 presidential election must not recur.
“We will not allow a repeat of what happened in the 2023 election,” he said.
“In 2027, you will either count the votes correctly, or you will be counted. We must all be ready to defend our votes.”
Addressing supporters in Akwa Ibom, Obi added: “My dear brothers and sisters of the Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State, I bring you warm greetings and unwavering hope.”
