Energy Minister lauds TEN Fields operations during offshore field visit

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has praised the operational performance and strategic importance of Ghana’s offshore oil and gas assets during a field visit to key production and drilling facilities in the country’s western offshore basin.

During the field visit, the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, FPSO John Evans Atta Mills, which supports production from the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) Fields, was inspected alongside the drilling support vessel, the Noble Venturer.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Minister to engage directly with technical teams and industry partners working offshore to sustain and increase production levels.

He emphasised that the TEN Fields remain one of Ghana’s most strategic petroleum assets, contributing significantly not only to national crude oil output but also to the country’s energy security through gas supply.

The Minister noted that reliable gas supply from the operations continues to play a key role in stabilising electricity generation for industries, businesses and households across the country, particularly as demand for stable power supply remains central to economic growth.

He also commended the offshore workforce, describing their professionalism, discipline and commitment as critical to sustaining safe and efficient operations. According to him, both FPSO and rig teams continue to demonstrate high standards of safety compliance, reflecting a strong culture of operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

He encouraged all partners involved in the operations to remain focused, innovative and collaborative in order to unlock greater value from Ghana’s petroleum resources.

The Minister further assured industry players of government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and enabling environment that supports continued investment, operational improvements and increased production to maximise national benefit.

The field visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector as government balances oil and gas development with its broader energy transition agenda.
