Dr Sa-ad Iddrisu, Managing Director of SIC-FSL, has sent a donation of food items, cartons of water and undisclosed cash amount through his delegation to the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Tuesday July 28, to commiserate with the Dagbon Kingdom, following the passing of the overlord of Dagbon Kingdom, Ya-Na Abukari II.
The delegation was led by Moniru Sugri, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Yendi, together with Yendi Constituency NDC Executives and other friends and family members.
Recall that the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Yaa Naa Abukari II (Mahama Abukari II), died on 11 July 2026, while receiving medical treatment in South Africa. He was buried in the early hours of 13 July 2026 at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, in accordance with Islamic tradition and Dagbon custom.
Yaa Naa Abukari II became the 41st Yaa Naa in 2019, following the historic resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy conflict. During his reign, he was widely credited with promoting peace, reconciliation, and unity within Dagbon and beyond.
Following his passing, the Dagbon Traditional Council announced the customary mourning rites and prayers. A regent, Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II, was designated to oversee the kingdom during the transition until a new Yaa Naa is selected according to Dagbon custom.
