The Overall National Best Farmer and National Best Poultry Farmer for 2026 will receive seven-day all-expenses-paid trips to Italy to study modern agricultural practices.
The sponsorship packages have been secured by Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms as part of the 42nd National Farmers Day celebration.
Mehak Company Limited will sponsor the Overall National Best Farmer and a spouse or partner on the seven-day agricultural study and leisure trip.
The package will expose the winner to modern agricultural technology, sustainable value chains and innovations in food processing in Italy.
Covenant Farms will sponsor the National Best Poultry Farmer for a seven-day technical and benchmarking visit focused on modern poultry production practices, sustainable systems and innovation.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the international exposure is intended to support the government’s efforts to modernise agriculture by giving the award winners an opportunity to learn from practices and technologies used in the Italian agricultural sector.
The Ministry said it had completed negotiations with the Embassy of Italy to facilitate the successful travel of the eventual winners of the two categories.
The sponsorship was announced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with the two agribusiness companies ahead of this year’s National Farmers Day celebration.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the management of Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for supporting the awards and providing what it described as international exposure opportunities for Ghana’s leading farmers.
The 42nd National Farmers Day celebration will recognise farmers and other agricultural sector players for their contribution to food production and the development of the sector.
