Nigeria’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodatasports, confirmed the fixture on Tuesday.
The match will be the second meeting between both countries in 16 months, following their 1-1 draw at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 6, 2025.

Russia took the lead through an own goal by Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi before Tolu Arokodare equalised after the break.
Russia friendly follows AFCON qualifiers
The October encounter comes one week after Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Wild Dogs in Bissau on September 29, four days after opening their qualifying campaign against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The Russia fixture will provide Nigeria with another opportunity to prepare for the next phase of the international calendar.
Super Eagles seek stronger international run
Nigeria missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, but retained the Afro-Caribbean Unity Cup in London.
Nigeria is currently ranked 26th in the FIFA world rankings, while Russia occupies the 35th position.
The October 6 fixture will give Nigeria a second opportunity to face Russia after their first meeting ended in a draw last year.
