The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Volta Regional Secretariat has announced the appointment of 10 new regional officers, a decision that has sparked discontent within the party’s regional structure.
The appointments, announced in a statement dated August 26, 2026, affect key positions across the secretariat, including finance, organisation, youth, women’s affairs, electoral affairs and legal administration.
The move was made in consultation with the NPP’s National Executive Committee and is said to be in accordance with Article 9(2) of the party’s Constitution, as amended in 2025.
Enyonam Morve has been appointed Regional Financial Secretary, while Alhassan Samadu takes over as Deputy Organiser.
Mercy Kpodo has been named Deputy Women’s Organiser, with Innocent Richard Dzamabi appointed Deputy Youth Organiser.
Karim Raifu is to serve as Deputy Nasara Organiser, while Richard Kwadekpo has been appointed Electoral Affairs Officer.
The regional secretariat has also appointed Ruben Dorcoo as Research Officer and Eric Kwame Akatsi Dumenu as Persons With Disability (PWD) Coordinator.
Bless Kofi Dunyo Esq. has been named Regional Legal Representative, while Wisdom Ojid Gakpo takes up the position of Regional Special Duties Officer.
The announcement was signed by Volta Regional Chairman Makafui Kofi Woanyah, who congratulated the appointees and wished them success in their new roles.
The appointments have nevertheless become a point of contention within the Volta NPP, with the reshuffle raising questions about the composition and direction of the regional leadership.
The changes come at a crucial period for the NPP as it seeks to rebuild its structures and strengthen its grassroots organisation following its defeat in the 2024 general election.
The Volta Region remains one of the areas where the party has struggled to make significant electoral gains, increasing the importance of its internal organisation, mobilisation and leadership ahead of future elections.
The newly appointed officers will now be expected to work with the regional executive to strengthen the party’s structures and advance its organisational objectives in the region.
