YEA targets over 10,000 jobs with nationwide electric bike delivery programme

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is set to create more than 10,000 jobs for young Ghanaians through a new electric vehicle delivery programme.

The initiative, to be known as the YEA EV Delivery Brigade, will establish a structured delivery service across all 16 regions, with more than 10,000 electric bikes expected to be deployed to trained beneficiaries.

The programme is being introduced under the leadership of YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale as part of efforts to expand employment opportunities for young people.

Under the initiative, beneficiaries will receive specialised training in electric vehicle repairs, maintenance and assembly, equipping them with technical skills alongside the delivery work.

The programme will also involve the establishment of electric vehicle battery charging and swapping stations across the country to support the operation of the delivery fleet.

The YEA is expected to roll out the service nationwide, creating opportunities for young people while promoting the use of electric mobility in Ghana’s delivery sector.
