Nathaniel Opoku provides assist as Leicester City U21s defeat Plymouth Argyle U21s
Ghanaian forward Nathaniel Opoku provided an assist as Leicester City Under-21s defeated Plymouth Argyle Under-21s 3-1 in the Premier League Cup.
The result gave Leicester a positive start and highlighted Opoku’s attacking influence in a lively contest.
Plymouth made the stronger opening and took the lead after only 10 minutes. Caleb Roberts finished a move created by Riley Carr, giving the visitors early encouragement and forcing Leicester to respond.
The hosts gradually found their rhythm, with Hugo de Lisle equalising in the 38th minute. Opoku then played an important role in Leicester’s second goal, setting up Michael Golding in first-half stoppage time. Golding’s finish sent Leicester into the interval with a 2-1 advantage.
Leicester continued to control the match after the restart, enjoying 75 percent possession and creating more opportunities. Their pressure produced a third goal in the 67th minute when Sam Hayman turned the ball into his own net.
Plymouth struggled to regain momentum, managing only one shot on target throughout the game. Leicester’s organised performance ensured they protected their lead and completed a comfortable victory.
For Opoku, the assist was an encouraging contribution as he continues to push for greater recognition within Leicester’s development setup.
