The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an emergency intervention to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the recent flooding incidents that affected several parts of the country.
In a statement issued in Accra on Thursday, the ministry expressed sympathy to victims of the disaster, which has left several communities devastated, with reports of loss of lives and extensive destruction of property.
It said government stands in solidarity with all affected citizens and families as recovery efforts continue across impacted areas.
The ministry noted that many Ghanaians may have lost important personal documents, including passports, as a result of the floods, and has therefore activated an expedited replacement process.
As part of the arrangement, individuals whose passports were destroyed or misplaced are being urged to contact a dedicated hotline between Friday, 3 July and Friday, 17 July 2026 on 055 936 8563 for assistance.
Applicants are expected to provide personal details including their name, date of birth, and gender as contained in the lost or damaged passport, as well as a contact number to facilitate follow-up.
The ministry indicated that the initiative is aimed at ensuring quick restoration of travel documents to affected persons, adding that efforts are underway to replace all impacted passports within one week of verification.
The ministry said the intervention forms part of broader government recovery measures to support citizens affected by the floods and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national recovery efforts and ensuring that affected citizens receive timely assistance during the post-disaster period.
