Kwa-Thema Medical Practice reopens with plans to expand healthcare services

Kwa-Thema – Residents of Kwa-Thema gathered for the reopening and relaunch of Kwa-Thema Medical Practice on May 16, aimed at improving access to healthcare services in the area.

Speaking to the African Reporter, Dr Bongolwethu Masebe said the vision for the facility is to create a multi-disciplinary medical centre that brings different healthcare specialists closer to the community.

Masebe explained that the practice had been operational before being relaunched with an expanded vision to better serve residents.

“We want to bring all specialities to the people and make sure that they receive the healthcare services they need and deserve timeously,” he said.

He shared the clinic’s plans, which include introducing dental services and visiting specialists, including general surgeons and gynaecologists.

He said the centre intends to work with referral doctors and partner healthcare facilities to ensure patients receive the appropriate care when specialised treatment is needed.

Masebe added that the open day was also an opportunity for the centre to engage directly with residents and better understand the community’s healthcare needs.

“The purpose of the open day is to hear from the community about their needs so that we can work towards meeting them,” he said.

Free health screenings were part of the event to encourage residents to seek medical attention early and prioritise preventive healthcare.

Masebe stressed the importance of regular screenings, especially for older residents, saying some illnesses, such as cancer, develop gradually without immediate symptoms.

“We want patients to be encouraged to visit doctors and be properly screened early, especially people over the age of 50,” he said.

He assured residents that the centre is committed to providing reliable healthcare services to the community.

“We want the community to understand that this centre is for them. We are committed to making sure they have access to multiple doctors and proper healthcare support for various conditions,” said Masebe.

The clinic is located at 43 Majola Street, and can be contacted on 076 081 6014.
