The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has rejected claims circulating on social media suggesting that public funds have been mismanaged in relation to a document linked to its operations.
In an official statement issued on 18 May 2026 and addressed to media houses, the Ministry said it had taken notice of a document being shared online alongside allegations targeting the sector minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).
According to the Ministry, the document in question is only an extract from a broader internal submission seeking Commitment Authorisation from the Ministry of Finance, in accordance with established public financial management and procurement procedures.
It explained that the request forms part of budgetary processes tied to programmes and operational activities already captured under approved allocations for the 2026 fiscal year by Parliament.
The Ministry further clarified that the request has not yet been approved by the Ministry of Finance, stressing that no funds have been released, disbursed, or utilised in connection with the items referenced in the circulating material.
It described suggestions that public resources have been “blown” or squandered as misleading, inaccurate, and lacking proper context.
The statement emphasised that all financial processes under the Ministry remain subject to strict regulatory oversight and compliance with public financial management laws.
It added that the Ministry remains committed to transparency, accountability, and due process in the execution of its mandate within the digital and communications sector.
