The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a temporary partial closure of a section of the road in front of the Departure Hall at Terminal 2 of the Kotoka International Airport, as part of ongoing construction works aimed at improving the facility’s frontage and façade.
In a public notice issued by management, the affected stretch will be closed from Monday, May 11, 2026, for a period expected to last one month. During this time, the section will be inaccessible to both vehicles and pedestrians to allow contractors to carry out safe refitting works on the Terminal 2 frontage.
According to GACL, the exercise forms part of broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure and enhance the aesthetic and functional quality of the terminal environment for passengers and airport users.
To minimise disruption to airport operations and commuter movement, the company has indicated that directional signage will be strategically placed around the affected area. In addition, traffic management personnel will be deployed on-site to guide motorists and pedestrians and ensure the smooth flow of movement within the airport precinct.
The management of GACL has expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and has appealed for the understanding and cooperation of the travelling public as the works are undertaken.
“The Ghana Airports Company Limited regrets any inconvenience and appreciates the cooperation of the travelling public as we carry out these works,” the statement concluded.
