Passion Air announces GHC100 airport infrastructure charge on domestic tickets

Passion Air has announced the introduction of a GHC100 Airport Infrastructure Development Charge (AIDC) on domestic air tickets, effective Tuesday, 1 April 2026.

In a public notice issued today by its Corporate Affairs Department, the airline said the charge has been instituted by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) as part of government’s airport infrastructure modernisation programme.

According to the statement, the AIDC will be applied as a one-way charge and incorporated into all applicable domestic passenger fares as a tax.

“This new charge will support the Government’s effort to fund ongoing and future airport infrastructure improvements across the country,” the notice said.

The airline indicated that the directive applies to all tickets issued on or after 1 April 2026.

Passengers booking domestic flights from that date will therefore have the GHC100 charge automatically included in their fares in line with regulatory requirements.

The Airport Infrastructure Development Charge is expected to contribute to the funding of airport expansion and upgrade projects across the country.
