Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has interdicted two medical doctors and two nurses for their alleged failure to provide emergency care to a hit-and-run victim, who later died.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 23, 2026, the hospital’s management said the four staff members have been relieved of their duties pending the outcome of a full-scale investigation into the incident.
“A committee has been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the unfortunate death of the victim,” the statement read.
The decision follows public outrage over allegations that the victim, who was rushed to the facility after being struck by a vehicle, was neglected by medical staff on duty.
The incident has reignited concerns about emergency response protocols and staff conduct at Ghana’s premier health facility.
Management called on all persons connected to the matter to cooperate fully with the investigative committee to “ensure a fair and transparent inquiry.”
The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the delivery of quality healthcare, promising to communicate further details once the probe is concluded.
The names of the interdicted staff and the victim have not been publicly released at this time.
