The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has inaugurated the Steering and Technical Committees for the Bank Listing Project, marking a key step in efforts to deepen Ghana’s capital market and strengthen the financial system.
The launch took place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Bank Square in Accra.
Speaking at the event, Dr Asiama described the Bank Listing Project as a strategic response to structural changes already taking place within Ghana’s financial system, rather than a purely technical or procedural exercise.
He stated that Ghana’s pension fund assets have exceeded GHC100 billion, describing this as one of the largest pools of investible capital in the economy. According to the Governor, the listing of banks is intended to promote transparency and market discipline, while deliberately linking long-term domestic savings to the banking sector.

Dr Asiama tasked the Steering and Technical Committees to develop a framework that is practical, credible and grounded in Ghana’s economic realities, while ensuring the protection of financial stability and public confidence in the financial system.
The Bank Listing Project is expected to support the development of the capital market and enhance the resilience of the banking sector.
