President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday received in audience Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, at the State House.

The meeting focused on security matters in Kaduna State, with Governor Sani briefing the President on the latest updates regarding the rescue of worshippers abducted on January 18, 2026, from churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area.

The governor provided details on the ongoing joint operations involving state and federal security agencies that led to the safe release of the victims over the past week.

Naija News reports that worshippers abducted from three churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recently regained their freedom.

A resident told TheCable on Wednesday that the remaining Christians held by the gunmen have now been released, bringing an end to the mass abduction that occurred last month.

Gunmen had stormed three churches in the community on January 18, abducting about 167 worshippers during church services. The police initially denied the incident but later confirmed that the abductions had taken place.

On February 1, 80 of the abducted worshippers were released, leaving others still in captivity until their release this week.

The source disclosed that the freed worshippers are currently in the custody of the Kaduna State Government, pending an official announcement.
