Ghana and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation aimed at promoting economic growth, investment and sustainable development.
This came after the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, received a high-level Japanese delegation led by Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayano Kunimitsu, at a meeting held in Accra.
Discussions between the two leaders focused on expanding collaboration in key areas including trade, investment, education, economic development and cultural exchange.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang underscored Ghana’s appreciation of Japan as a strategic development partner, noting that the long-standing relationship between the two countries continues to yield significant benefits.
She expressed optimism that renewed engagements would create opportunities for increased private sector partnerships and attract more Japanese investments into Ghana’s economy.

For her part, Foreign Affairs Minister Ayano Kunimitsu commended Ghana’s political stability and improving economic prospects, describing the country as an important partner for Japan in West Africa.
She assured the Vice President of Japan’s continued support for Ghana’s development agenda, particularly through technical cooperation, capacity building initiatives and stronger collaboration with the private sector.
Both sides agreed to sustain regular high-level engagements to ensure that the partnership translates into tangible benefits for the citizens of both countries.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Samson Ahi; and other senior government officials.
