Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to shut down on December 27

Management of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has announced that the facility will be closed to the public on Saturday, December 27, 2025, citing internal operational arrangements.

In a press release issued on December 10, 2025, and signed by Dr Collins R. Nunyonameh, Acting Executive Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, management informed the general public, visitors and partners that the park will not be accessible throughout the day during the temporary closure.

The statement urged the public to take note of the closure date when making plans to visit the historic monument.

According to management, the closure will be brief, with normal operations resuming on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from which date visitors will be received again.

Management apologised for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and cooperation.

The release noted that the measure is part of efforts to maintain the park’s operational standards and overall service experience.

The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is one of Ghana’s most significant national monuments, preserving the legacy of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a central figure in Africa’s anti-colonial movement. The site serves as both a memorial and a cultural landmark, drawing visitors from within Ghana and abroad.
