United States President Donald Trump has revealed that his son, Barron Trump, is an admirer of Cristiano Ronaldo after the teenager met the football star at the White House on Tuesday night.
Cristiano Ronaldo was among the guests invited as Trump hosted Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, during his visit to Washington.
The Al Nassr forward arrived in the United States with his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, as part of the Crown Prince’s delegation.
The 40-year-old was dressed in a black tuxedo as he took his seat among several high-profile figures, including Elon Musk and US Vice President JD Vance.
Trump, during his address at the dinner, pointed out Ronaldo’s presence and told guests how thrilled his son had been to meet the Portuguese star.
“This room is loaded up with the biggest leaders in the world, business, sports…” Trump said.
“My son is a big fan of Ronaldo… Barron got to meet him and I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just the fact that I introduced you. So I just want to thank you both for being here.”
Ronaldo’s appearance in Washington came shortly after he was shown a red card in Portugal’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ireland, which ruled him out of the victory over Armenia on Sunday.
Portugal’s win that day confirmed their place at the 2026 World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
