Super Falcons star Michelle Alozie has earned a spot among the finalists for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World 11, standing tall as the only Nigerian to make the global shortlist.
Naija News reports that none of Nigeria’s male football stars, including Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, made the men’s shortlist this year, making Michelle Alozie’s recognition even more remarkable.
The Houston Dash defender has been a key figure in the NWSL this season, registering one goal in 18 appearances. Her lone strike came away from home, bringing her tally to 0.15 goals per 90 minutes. While her numbers may not dazzle, Alozie’s tireless defending and leadership have clearly caught the attention of football watchers worldwide.
Her nomination puts her in elite company alongside world-class names such as Spain’s Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, and England’s Mary Earps.
In the defenders’ category, Alozie joins top talents like Lucy Bronze, Millie Bright, Leah Williamson, Alex Greenwood, and Olga Carmona.
The midfield shortlist is packed with Barcelona’s dominant trio of Bonmati, Putellas, and Vicky Lopez, while the forward list features Zambia’s Barbra Banda, Colombia’s Linda Caicedo, Brazil’s legendary Marta, and England’s Alessia Russo.
