Ghana throws weight behind Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan

The government of Ghana has issued a strong endorsement of a new Gaza peace initiative put forward by former US President Donald J. Trump, hailing it as a potential pathway to end the devastating conflict in the region.

In an official press release dated 3rd October 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the 20-point plan as a “welcome development and a relief to the suffering civilians,” expressing hope that it could halt the “tremendous suffering and loss of human lives.”

The statement signals Ghana’s alignment with the ambitious proposal, which aims not only to cease hostilities but also to lay the groundwork for a sustainable future. The government specifically welcomed the plan’s focus on a post-war rebuild of Gaza, the prevention of annexation and the displacement of Palestinian people, and the advancement of a comprehensive peace framework.

“It is our hope that the initiative will ultimately provide a viable pathway for achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, in which the States of Israel and Palestine can exist side by side in harmony and security,” the release stated.

The government has pledged to leverage its diplomatic channels to build consensus around the proposal.

“Ghana stands ready to engage with all international partners to foster dialogue and understanding,” the ministry affirmed, while also issuing a direct appeal for compliance. The statement called on “all factions to commit to this historic peace proposal.”
